It Took Flying South

I've been terribly unmotivated to blog. I had a serious case of the winter blues. I promise we didn't do one thing all winter. That was then and this is May so how about a review of 2014 so far?

In February we went to Fairhope for Mardi Gras.
Barrett had so much fun. He would dance and wave when the bands came through. The floats mesmerized him.(Both parades were at night) When the floats rolled by he just stopped and stared!

We spent the weekend with the Turners. I swear to you there isn't a sweeter family. We always have the best time when we stay with them. It doesn't hurt that they have two precious kiddos. They are just so sweet playing with Barrett! It seems like just a few months ago we were meeting them in the NICU for the first time. Can't believe how much they have grown.

They had some much fun playing in the sand at The Gulf. I would tell you how much sand Barrett ate but you may report me to DHS!

Haydon, Emma Grace, and Barrett

We planned a trip to the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. We both had wanted to take Barrett in the spring since he loved the estuarium  and sea lab so much last summer. His enthusiasm did not disappoint! Once again he was in awe of the fish. The gulf fish were also still his favorite.

He was so unsure of sitting on a giant frog!

We also walked around New Orleans. Barrett loved his beignet from cafe du monde.

We have been to the beach three or four weekends. The vitamin D has been good for all our souls. The little Hovatter has inherited the beach bum gene. He loves it!  As soon as the salt air hits he gets so excited. He loves the beach, the gulf and pool. He has the best time. It's going to be such a fun summer!

Barrett, Brenley & Mr. Penguin discussing their day on the balcony!
His friend Brenley went with him one weekend. They are the sweetest little friends. They had so much fun together! We can't wait for more trips with more friends!

Barrett finally got to met his Aunt Julie on one of our beach weekends. I have never seen him warm up to someone as quickly as he did her. He just loved her. We can't wait to see her more this summer!

On our last trip to the beach we made a trip to "The little zoo that could." We didn't have Barretts stroller so we rented a wagon. The first picture below is when I first sat him in it. He loved his first wagon ride. He had the best time at the zoo. His favorite animals were the deer go figure. We also got to hear the lion roar!

We went to a wedding at the Gulf Shores pavillion. Here are a few pictures of the evening.
Please ignore the drool he is cutting eight teeth!

LOVE this picture poor baby got mayo dropped on his head!

Last but not least is Easter! We had a great day of Easter bunny, church, and Mamaws!

Ignore the Christmas jammies his daddy dressed him for bed!
 Checking out his loot!

 Hunting Easter eggs

We had the best time dying eggs. We had a busy weekend so we didn't dye them until Sunday afternoon when we got home. So glad we didn't skip the egg dying. We laid an old sheet out in the kitchen and gave Barrett free range dying the eggs! By the end every color cup was dumped out on the floor and he  was green! It sure was fun though!

After we dyed eggs we went outside to "hide" them. Barrett had other ideas and most of the eggs were  broken and stomped on the patio!

2014 is off to a great start! Can't wait to see what the rest of the year holds!
