Beachy Baby

Barrett went south for the first time over the weekend. He visited J&M. Stopped by the pier for some fishing. Watched the dolphins on the balcony while visiting Mr. Perry and Mrs. Eloise. Slept a whole lot! Was mistaken for a girl by three people. Played with his girlfriend!

Fishing is hard work!

He had his toes in the water, toes in the sand!

He is ready to go back this weekend!

Hurry Friday!!

Any Day Spent With You Is My Favorite Day

Monday will be three weeks since I started back to work. In that three weeks Barrett has changed so much!

We had a play date with his "girlfriend" Brenley.  There was a lot of starring into each others eyes going on!
Eventually they had too much fun and decided it was time for a nap

He turned three months old

He still loves his bath. For the most part he doesn't throw down any more when you take him out either!

His doctor started him on a new formula for cow milk allergy. Ever since we started the formula he has no tummy issues and he seriously does this all the time! I love this sweet smile!

He experienced his first snow with his grandmother and papa! I had to leave for work =(

He had the cutest little snow man! Hovatter saved it and put it into the freezer in the garage. He also bagged up some of the snow and wrote Barrett's first snow on it!

He is trying so hard to hold his bottle! It is just so hard stay awake long enough to eat!

He really loves playing on his activity mats. He has two that we double up to have more toys above him!

I think his Bumbo is his favorite to sit in! He has started sitting in his papason and swing some as well! Even took a nap in his swing today!

Look who is chunking up! (the picture makes him look alittle bigger then he actually is) We took him to doctor on Tuesday and we have reached the double digits!! 10.1 If he keeps gaining we will take him off high calorie formula in March!

Since it has been warm this week he has been outside more and LOVES it!!

He is a wiggler and a chatter box! Growing too fast!

If You're Not Getting Older Your Dead

I don't want to call anyone out but we had a very important birthday this week! Someone turned Forty and someone didn't! I would never believe she was forty by looking at her but I also get the feeling she wouldn't make this up!

I also included a picture of mine and Kim's birthday in December

We also had a baby shower at work this week and I didn't take one picture! Shame on me! I survived my first week back it was absolutely dreadful! Not the work part it wasn't bad and I enjoyed having my kids back. However the spending more time without Barrett then with him was just awful! I know he enjoyed spending the week with his Grandmother and Papa.

We took him back to doctor on Friday he is up to 9 pounds!!! We did however buy more newborn diapers today so once again I was wrong we haven't bought the last of them!  Little one is growing I will end with a picture from this week!

Well, maybe not haven't uploaded them!

A Farewell Is Necessary Before You Can Meet Again

This little sweetie here

Has become this sweetie here

On Monday my 12 weeks of maternity leave are over and my days will no longer be spent loving on this little guy! To say I'm sad is an understatement! I'm seriously depressed to have to leave him. I realize people leave their babies everyday but that doesn't really make me feel  better about it!

The good news is when I return to work I will have lots of kiddos to love on. Don't get me wrong I have missed my kids and sweet co-workers but I sure could use another 3 months. A three day week would be nice too!

Moving on from my state of depression I must pause for a minute to wipe my tears!

Now that Barrett is approaching the three month mark I decided to blog about some milestones before I forget!

Let's start with things he loves!
  • Bath Time!
    • He is some kind of serious about his whale tub
    • He kicks, splashes, and tries to get his duck with his feet
    • Loves his lights that go on the side of the tub and his whale that swims around and sprays water
    • I love that it makes his little gassy tummy feel better!
  • Eating
    • Little man loves to eat and has started holding his bottle some
    • He currently takes about 2-3 ounces every two to fours hours
  • Sonny
    • Barrett loves Sonny when he comes in he stares at him and coos at him! He finds him very fascinating.
  • Story Time
    • He loves loves loves being read to
    • We usually read him several stories a night
  • Floor play
    • He will play on his back and reach for his toys on his activity mat (He just started hitting them on 12/30/12)
    • He also likes tummy time!
  • TV
    • Well, I'm not necessarily thrilled about this one but this week he has noticed when the television is on and cues in to it.  It is pretty funny to watch his face.
    • He watched an episode of the Flintstones with his grandmother and his papa(I must admit it was sweet)
  • Playing Peek-a-boo
    • I would have never believed it if I hadn't seen him playing with mom. She would cover her face and say "Peek-a-boo" then he would cover his eyes with his arm every time! Too Cute!
  • Sticking his fist in his mouth! He loves to suck on his fist! He also has become VERY drolly in the last few weeks! We never needed bibs before but we sail through 3-4 a day with this drool monster
  • Music
    • Loves it! If he is screaming play Snow by RHCP or George Strait and you have a quiet baby
  • Sitting up
    • 90% of the time he wants to be sitting upright and looking around
    • He has been independently holding his head up for about two months now and is a very curious little one
  • Dogs
    • He has noticed Toby and Allie and finds them very intriguing
Now the things he doesn't love so much
  • Getting out of the tub
    • He must be freezing because he screams until he is wearing clothes again
  • Coughing
    • He startles when Sonny coughs it even wakes him up sometimes
  • Having a wet diaper not that I blame him
  • When he is gassy and his tummy is rock hard
    • It's really the saddest thing
  • Being put down
    • No really he wants to be held always! Always!
    • Doesn't like a swing, papason, crib, or boppy for more then about 20 minutes usually
    • The only thing he likes is a Bumbo but I don't feel comfortable putting him in it for more then a few minutes because his trunk control isn't there yet. I always sit with him when he is in it so that doesn't help get things done!!
      • That's okay though I know he wont want to be help forever so I just love him up!
    • It's also pretty skillful the things I can do with one arm!
  • Getting woke up
    • He is so like me and wakes up so slow!
    • Opens and closes his eyes a million times and stretches his arms!
    • He usually wakes up happy when he gets his nap in!
    • If he gets woke up he is ill until you soothe him back to sleep
On a side note! Mostly so I remember he is wearing Newborn diapers (I swear every case we buy will be the last!) Newborn clothes but were starting to work our way into some 0-3 Months! Socks are a disaster if they are slim enough the heel comes to the middle of his foot! haha

Hope you enjoyed the latest on this handsome little sweetie!

We are only slightly obsessed with him!! But isn't that the point!!!!

My Momma Met My Daddy Down In Ala-Bam They Tied The Knot So Here I Am

This post and many others to come I'm sure will be all about baby. Why all about baby you ask? Well, because that's what the last three weeks and four days have been about! So if you don't care feel free to excuse yourself from this post ;) I know I better write my thoughts down while they are fresh on my mind or months from now I will forget to write them or the facts will be fuzzy.

Let's start at the beginning...

Barrett was due on October 21, 2012. For whatever reason he thought it was best to keep his head up and we were scheduled for a caesarean section on October 15, 2012. Here you can read about our weekend leading up to the big day! The Future Comes One Day At Time

Sonny and I woke up between 2:30 and 2:45. I was having a very vivid dream that I went in for my C-section and Toby(our dog) was trying to jump inside my body. Once awake Sonny and I couldn't go back to sleep so we went in the living room and watched the Lion King we had DVR'd months before. Around 4:00 Sonny decided to try to go back to sleep. I knew if went back to sleep it would be so difficult to get up so I decided to take a long hot bath, shower and get dressed. We had to be at the hospital at 6a.m. Around 5:00 I woke Sonny back up to start getting dressed. We loaded the truck and took a few pictures before heading to the hospital.
Toby wanted in the picture of me in Barrett's nursery before leaving for the hospital
 Sonny and I before leaving
Take note that the house was spotless with the exception of his reel taken apart on the end of the bar!
Also notice he is wearing blue in all the pictures!
We left for the hospital bright and early. We were a few minutes late because we had to stop and drop something off at Sonny's job! When we registered I politely informed them I was an employee and wanted a big room! HaHa I figured it couldn't hurt to ask! It must have worked out because the room was nice and spacious!

After we registered we walked into our room and waited a good 45 minutes before anyone came in. When they changed shifts at seven I met my two nurses and they started all of the prep for surgery. Around 8:45 the nurse came back in to ask if we had anyone coming. Sonny and I had previously decided we wanted to be alone until several hours after he was born. We informed her it would just be us. She said "I was just gonna tell you if someone was coming they wanted to come on because it is probably going to be sooner then later." We had been told the week before the delivery would be sometime between 9 and 10. She couldn't have had the door shut good  before I burst into nervous tears. As Sonny neared by bedside to comfort me I really thought I was going to have a panic attack!  He got me a wash cloth and wiped my tears as I took deep breaths to calm down. The nurse shortly came back in and was so sweet when she saw I was upset. She did her very best to make me feel at ease. I had started to drift off in the mist of a prayer for comfort when the very answer to that prayer walked through the door. The nurse anesthetist was a breath of fresh air and completely calmed all my fears. He made me feel so at ease and kept me comforted and calm until I returned to my room. He was wearing an Alabama surgical cap and Sonny joked with him that was the only reason I let him in. He told him if he would have walked in with LSU on his head I would have sent him packing! (which is probably true) ha!

How cute does he look!
During the delivery I was much more out of it then I expected to be which in my opinion was a good thing!

Somethings I remember are....
  • Sonny telling me "he has hair, and it's not red! "
    • I was convinced it would be red because we have so much on both side of our families and when I envisioned Barrett I saw a brown hair, blue eyed boy
  • When he was born they said 9:23 to mark the time.
    • I promptly said 9 pounds that huge and the whole room had a good laugh
  • They wrapped him up and handed him to Sonny who brought him around for me to see
    • I said he looks like a Gardner (Sonny's mom's side of the family)
    • I also though his lips were huge
    • I gave him a kiss and Sonny went with him back to our room
  • At Wesley they play a nursery chime everytime a baby is born
    • I remember hearing Barrett's and thinking all of my co-workers who were one floor under us were probably wondering if it was for him!
  • While I was laying there they called back from our room to let me know our sweet boy was 7 pounds 4 ounces.
After what felt like an hour they wheeled me back to our room where Sonny greeted me! The first thing I said as they rolled me through the door was instructions for him to put Barrett's birth announcement on the door. During the next two hour I wasn't loving our big room with my sweet baby all the way on the other side. They were testing him out you know making sure he had 10 fingers and 10 ten toes all the good stuff! He screamed the entire time except when Sonny would walk over and say something to him or touch his hand. I called down stairs and answered some texts messages and told everyone that he was born at 9:44 oops!

Getting a Bath!

After getting his bath they dressed our sweet baby wrapped him up and brought him to me!  At around 12:30 I finally had quite shaking uncontrollably from the medication and was able to hold my sweet boy!
