The Proposal
As told from my wedding planner binder written the weekend of the engagement
Date: 2-12-10
Time: 11:45 a.m.
We were outside playing in the snow. We received 6-7 inches which is very uncommon in South Mississippi. We built a snow man (Alabama Crimson Tide theme of course. Had a snow ball fight mostly me throwing snow at him and running away in his defense he had been sick. I was freezing and ready to go in. He insisted we stayed out because the snow was so rare. He had his arms around me trying to warm me up. I kept suggesting we go in. After about 20 minutes he said "We have to do something before we go in. We have to become engaged" I said "are you serious...3 times" The first two time he said "yes" the third time he said "no" he then got down on one knee with the most gorgeous ring in the entire world and said the best five words "Julia will you marry me?" My eyes were full of tears and I kept burying my head in his chest and hugging him.and saying "are you serious" he then said with tears in his eyes "so is that a yes?" to which I replied "of course that is a yes!" He handed me the ring so I told him "you have to put it on" his response "which hand?" He can never remember. We then took pictures with the ring in the snow. He offered to change out of Camo and believe it or not I declined. Then we began to spread the news.
My parents were the first people to get a phone call. My mom answered and told daddy and Jerrad. They were all excited but knew it was coming because Sonny had asked Daddy for his blessings.
We were going to the beach so we were dropping the dogs off at Sonny's parents in Mobile so we decided to tell them in person. We had been at his parents about ten minutes. I had hidden my hand. Sonny said "Show them what I got you" and I pulled my hand out. They were so excited and had a million questions. Where, when, etc.
I think Erica was the most excited with Jordan in a close second. Everyone I told I called and just started a normal conversation "what's up? We played in the snow, had a snow ball fight, Sonny proposed, I fell down".
It was a perfect. weekend! Today makes four months and ten days of marriage!
Today we spent our engagement anniversary outside. We have been wanting warm weather so bad and today we got a taste of some. Our precious niece Maggie is spending the weekend with us so after breakfast we headed outside for about 5 or 6 hours. It was wonderful we had a fire in the pit all day! We roasted hot dogs and made yummy smores and enjoyed some music. I wish we had more days like today. To top it all off Maggie is a pyro freak like her Aunt JuJu gave us a wonderful grand finale fire to go inside too!
