Antique Saturday

Sonny and I woke up with very different ideas of how to spend today. He of course woke up three hours before me and ventured out onto the clear cut. He was nearly ran over by a cow-horn, 4-point, 8-point, and 10-point deer chasing a doe in rut. Unfortunately for him his gun was here at home.

My day started off with the story of the ones that got away. Once I was awake we realized we had very different ideas of how to spend our Saturdays. Sonny wanted to go to State Line an hour and 15 minutes way to hang a ladder stand and hunt until dark. Keep in mind he had been 4 out of 5 of the previous days. I wanted to stay in Hattiesburg. After a friendly discussion we decided to go the the antique mall so I got a shower and got dressed and off we went.

First stop was for deer corn of course. Second stop a quick run through at the Walgreen's drive through. Then we and by we I mean me decided to follow the GPS to what I though was an antique mall I had heard about downtown. After some bad directions and a dead end into some train tracks we found an antique mall but not the one we were looking for at least I don't think so. So we continued on to lunch.

We ate lunch at McAlister's a place Sonny refused to eat at for years because he claimed they didn't serve anything that he liked. He is the pickiest eater in the world but that is another blog. Now he loves it and he always wants to eat there. I remind him of that every time we eat there!

After lunch we went to the antique mall on 49. Antique malls and flea markets are somewhere Sonny and I can always agree on. He is always looking for the same thing. Old reels hoping to find a green Penn for a steal or a rods he can strip down and rebuild. I never know what I'm looking for just that I'm looking. I am a lover of modern and contemporary design so an antique mall may not seem like it is up my ally but I'm always looking for that thing that is different or unique and lets face it these days antique consist of the old, the good, the bad, and the JUNK! If I'm lucky I may just find something I can strip down and redo which is my new found love along with sewing of course!

Here are some pictures from our trip!

Today was his lucky day! Found a Penn Six-Alt and he went home happy!
